Chirk Station

Chirk station is only a short walk from the village centre and the famous Chirk Aqueduct.

Chirk station serves the village of Chirk in the county borough of Wrexham, on the border of Wales and England. The station is a few minutes walk from the village centre.

Local Attractions include Chirk Castle which is the last Edward I castle to still be lived in today. Over 700 years old, the castle also has extensive gardens, a shop and tearooms, and is owned and operated by the National Trust. The entrance to the parkland in which the castle lies is just 400 yards from the station, with the castle itself an easy mile walk further on through the parkland and gardens.

The Shropshire Union Canal runs through Chirk right next to the railway line, and crosses the Ceiriog valley on Chirk Aqueduct (take a look at Virtual Shropshire for more views), which visitors can walk across using the towpath. This is the same canal that crosses Pontcysyllte Aqueduct near Llangollen. Chirk Aqueduct is an easy walk from Chirk station, and can be seen from trains crossing Chirk railway viaduct. There's also a marina and two canal tunnels which can easily be walked through.

The Ceiriog Valley Lies to the south west of Chirk and is ideal for walking. It's easily accessed by bus from Chirk station.
